ABOUT
Ken McGavin - Owner
I bought my first piece of art when I was 11 years old; it was one of the most incredible and self-defining experiences of my life as it’s led me into a 20 year career in the fine art gallery world. After attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, I then graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a B.Sc. in Art and Design in 2003. Ultimately it was my enthusiasm of sharing art and advising clients on their collections where I flourished at a gallery in California for 20 years. Three years ago, I fell in love with Houston when I had the opportunity to work with Gensler architecture; where I managed the art direction and installation of a commissioned Art Deco style mural, spanning 10 feet tall by 100 linear feet, in the main lobby of the McKinney Building here in Downtown Houston. My wife and I made Houston our permanent home in the Summer of 2023 before founding McGavin Gallery.
I believe that art has the ability to bridge gaps and connect people in a meaningful way. Throughout my career, I’ve worked to educate the public on art by experiencing it in an approachable and personal way; this process has allowed me to foster relationships into long-term art advocates, collectors and donors.
